Sergio Romero is all set to depart from Manchester United this summer.
Just yesterday, we covered a rumour from TNT Sports, who stated that Sergio Romero has ‘decided’ to move on from Manchester United.
Well today, those stories have been backed up by the usually-excellent Fabrizio Romano. He took to Twitter to give us all further insight into what’s going on with Romero.
Apparently, Romero is ‘gonna leave’ United at the end of this season, with the player having already received many proposals. At this moment, Boca Juniors are trying to convince the veteran goalkeeper to join them as a free agent. This would be the second Bosman signing from the Argentine club, following Marcos Rojo’s move back to his homeland.
Check out what Fabrizio Romano tweeted here:
To be brutally honest, I’m still bitterly disappointed about how United treated Romero when he was all set to join Everton. Pulling the rug from underneath his feet just didn’t feel kind at all, particularly when Romero has been such a brilliant servant for us.
The sad, but inevitable freezeout of Romero felt even harsher. We’ve not heard a peep from him since the summer window, with the 34-year-old yet to play a game this term. Talk about being throw out into the cold…
I guess the good news is that Romero is still being paid handsomely by United, as once again, the Old Trafford club have demonstrated that they’re more than willing to cut their nose to spite their face.
I just hope that Romero’s lack of game-time doesn’t affect his overall performance when he eventually gets his deserved move away.
