Sevilla ‘pushing to sign’ Alex Telles from Man United

Man United could be about to seal another exit during this hectic summer, with Alex Telles being eyed by Sevilla.

Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer was Tyrell Malacia, a left-back from Feyenoord back in the Netherlands.

Malacia has already shown us all his capabilities, looking sharp on both sides of the ball and feeling like a perfect fit for the Ten Hag style of play.

The 22-year-old becomes the third senior left-back at the club, meaning it felt inevitable that either Luke Shaw or Alex Telles would be up for sale.

Unfortunately for the Brazilian Telles, he has seemingly drawn the short straw.

Well, Fabrizio Romano has today offered an update on Telles’ future, with Sevilla leading the charge to sign the ex-Porto man this summer.

Apparently, the Spanish club are ‘pushing to sign’ the United first-teamer this summer, as ‘direct contacts’ with United continue. As things stand, Telles’ former club Porto are yet to make a bid.

Talks with Sevilla are progressing ‘well’, which leads us to believe that there’s a very good chance this transfer does get completed before the end of the transfer window.

For Telles, it’s about playing regularly. I struggle to see how he’ll get guaranteed minutes here in Manchester, hence, a move away does feel like the best strategy for all involved.

We’ve seen glimpses of Telles’ ability and skill here at Old Trafford but again, he hasn’t been given the luxury of week-in-week-out starts so he hasn’t been able to find that consistency. This summer, he’s even been deployed as a centre-back in some friendlies, which tells you he’s pretty far down the pecking order.

Hopefully, we’re not waiting too long before a deal is announced and finalised, purely so he knows where his long-term future lies.
