Shaw, McTominay suspended for Man United’s league game vs Aston Villa

Man United will be without two key players for their next Premier League game in just under two weeks’ time.

Ralf Rangnick’s time at Manchester United has certainly been intriguing. Though I have to admit, not much has changed in terms of style…

Last night against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Reds were comfortably second best throughout and we deserved to lose that game.

For the Old Trafford club, the struggles didn’t stop there. United were dealt a double blow as a key pair picked up bookings. They’re now suspended for the Reds’ next Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Both Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay were shown cards during the game where United were outfought, outworked and outwitted. Though both will be available for our FA Cup clash against Villa this coming weekend, they’ll miss the league encounter the weekend after.

It’s fair to say the duo have turned into United regulars over the last twelve to eighteen months, meaning our game without the pair could make it much tougher.

The good news in the left-back position is that Alex Telles certainly isn’t the worst back-up to have. Sure, he’s not as good as Shaw when the Englishman is in top form – but it’s fair to say we’ve barely seen United’s number 23 hit those heights in 2021/22.

McTominay’s absence causes us more of an issue. If Rangnick is intent on the 4-2-2-2, it almost certainly means Fred and Nemanja Matic will play in the defensive midfield slots as they’re the only viable options we have in that area.

First and foremost, we have to come through our FA Cup clash against Aston Villa first. Then Rangnick can start to ponder about what to do without Shaw & McTominay for our away game against Villa.
