Young forward, Shea Lacey, is touted for big things at Man United, with Erik ten Hag already taking note.
Manchester United have always believed in youth. It’s in their DNA. Erik ten Hag has given younger players their opportunities – but only when they prove they’re worthy. He is not keen on freebies.
Several players have been let go during this January, with the likes of Alvaro Fernandez, Joe Hugill and soon-to-be, Facundo Pellistri. These are all on the fringes of the first-team fold, though they’ll have to earn regular chances at United.
In a recent article by Steve Bates in The Mirror, one man is already being talked up as the next big thing; Shea Lacey.
According to the story, the exciting 16-year-old is already on Ten Hag’s ‘radar’ despite being so young in age, with Lacey touted for a big career.
The left-footer is already being compared to Manchester City’s Phil Foden, with his technical ability, balance, speed and potential his biggest attributes at this young stage of his career.
It’s always tough to gauge exactly how a young footballer will develop, or whether he will develop at all. However, you cannot help but feel positive about Lacey’s chances, assuming he stays injury free and mentally grounded.
This young man has insane ability and he’s already shining at youth level. He’s having the sort of impact that Alejandro Garnacho had when he first came to the club. We all know just how impressive the Argentine is right now.
Lacey needs to continue to develop at this right and continue to have the right people around him. I don’t doubt that Ten Hag will continue to keep a watchful eye on the young man, giving him the opportunity he deserves when the time is right.
