Shola Shoretire backed for Man United first-team breakthrough

Shola Shoretire has been backed to make his first-team breakthrough by ex-Red, Clayton Blackmore.

Manchester United’s talent-pool is overflowing right now. Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Red Devils youth coaches for that.

Under the current regime, the long-term goals are clearly at the forefront of everyone’s mind. United are looking to build for consistent success rather than trying to be a flash in the pan.

Amongst the most exceptional young players currently at the club is Shola Shoretire. The young attacking midfielder has been on the fringes of things for a few months now, with Solskjaer showing he trusts the young man enough to hand him his first-team debut as a very young teenager.

Now, the 17-year-old United starlet has been tipped to make his first-team breakthrough this season, by ex-Red Clayton Blackmore. It’s claimed that Shoretire is the ‘one to look out for’ as someone who ‘could play a part’. That’s definitely a fair assessment.

Check out what Blackmore had to say in full here:

“I think at the minute there’s only Shola Shoretire who could play a part,” Blackmore told the MEN exclusively, via BonusFinder.

“He’s been in around the first team already and played, so when you’re looking at players now he’d be the one to look out for.

“With the lads coming through I think you know early on watching them how far they’ll go, certainly the players there when I was a coach we predicted where they would end up.”

I feel like calling Shoretire the ‘only’ one who can play a part is a little harsh on the likes of Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga, but I would say Shoretire is the biggest talent.

He’s already proven that he’s a cut above the U23 level, despite only making the jump to that age group in the 2020/21 season. I liken Shoretire’s ability to that of Mason Greenwood. He too plays with a maturity beyond his years, while training with the first-team on a regular basis will definitely do him the world of good.

Players like Shoretire are just too good to be loaned out. It’s a case of drip-feeding him minutes over the course of the next twelve months, with a view to possibly making him a regular starter in a year or two. That’s just how capable he is.

Does Shola Shoretire have what it takes to make it into the Man United first-team this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
