Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seemingly set to place his trust in Shola Shoretire and Anthony Elanga this season.
Manchester United’s mantra has always been to place trust in youth. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued that trend excellently.
Although several young up and comers have headed out on loan for the 2021/22 season, our Baby Faced Assassin has seemingly seen enough from two players whom he wishes to keep around; Anthony Elanga and Shola Shoretire.
According to the Daily Mail on Sunday, the emerging United duo are set to stay at Old Trafford and play in the first-team – rather than head away in short-term loan deals.
The article from the DM was actually based around James Garner, who has headed to Nottingham Forest for the season. There’s also plans for Amad Diallo to head out and play his football elsewhere for the 2021/22 term.
As for Elanga and Shoretire, these guys have already shown their quality. The Swede was involved at the back end of last season, scoring on the final day against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Shoretire is a little further down the pecking order and we’ve not really seen him given the chance as of yet – however, it seems that opportunity is just around the corner.
It’s worth noting that Solskjaer won’t be expecting these guys to start week-in-week-out. Rather, they’ll drift in and out of the side when needed, most likely as substitutes initially.
Again, it just goes to show what a fantastic job United are doing behind the scenes when it comes to developing the next generation. The academy is literally overflowing with insane talent right now as the years of hard work from our coaches is starting to pay dividends.
I, for one, am excited to see how these guys get on over the next nine months.
