After becoming Manchester United’s club record signing, we ask the question should Juan Mata start tonight? The little Spaniard has been sat on the bench since New Years Day, and surely cannot be 100% fit as he prepares to make his Old Trafford debut at some point tonight.
Personally, I think David Moyes must start Juan Mata in the #10 slot. He’ll be eager to play and keen to impress, he’ll also want to hit the ground running. With Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie only just returning to training, we’ll need at least one of our three big names to do the business. For me Mata is the most match-fit out of the three as of right now, and he can make things happen.
We’ve struggled to create chances in the Premier League and that has been our downfall so far, hopefully Juan can change that and make an instant impact by grabbing an assist or a goal tonight.
Another option is to bring Juan Mata off the bench if we need him. If we’re losing or drawing with twenty minutes to go he could come on as a second-half substitute and change the game around. Then he’d be even sharper for a potentially tricky game away at Stoke on Saturday.
If you were David Moyes what would you do? Start him, or leave him on the bench?
