Significant chance Man United sign nobody in January

There is apparently a ‘significant chance’ that Man United bring no new players in during the January transfer window.

Erik ten Hag is already a man down going into the second portion of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer a Red Devil, also leaving on pretty sour terms.

The general consensus is that United will bring someone in during the January window to replace those lost minutes – be it a permanent signing or a short-term loan deal. Purely due to the dressing room already looking pretty thin on the ground…

Well, that may not be the case. It’s the usually reliable Dharmesh Sheth with the latest information. He believes United are ‘looking at’ signing a forward, including the 23-year-old Cody Gakpo. The club are also looking at bringing in a right-back.

However, there’s a ‘significant chance’ nobody is signed in January, with any spending completely dependent on the sale of Wan-Bissaka. United are looking to comply with FFP, while the club haven’t ruled out bringing someone in on loan.

Honestly, this is discouraging to say the least, but with the Glazer family trying to sell, I guess we had to prepare for the inevitable.

They’re not going to want to spend more money at this stage, as they look to ensure there’s still cash in the club coffers to make it look like a more attractive purchase.

The problem is, United are already a man or two light up front. Even if Wan-Bissaka leaves, they’ll then be struggling in the right-back position in terms of numbers.

It has already been discussed, but maybe there’s a genuine chance some loanees will head back to Old Trafford in January. Namely Amad and Ethan Laird.
