Sir Alex Ferguson has his say on Wayne Rooney

Since his shock retirement back in May, Sir Alex Ferguson has remained quiet on all things Manchester United. He remained true to his word, and left it all to our new Manager David Moyes. Today he conducted his first interview with MUTV since stepping down as boss, and had his say on Wayne Rooney.

The pair have had their run-ins down the years, and Sir Alex left it in acrimonious circumstances, by declaring Wayne Rooney wanted to leave Manchester United. Since then, Rooney has gone on to start the season in blistering style, scoring three goals and assisting three others.

Sir Alex said:

“I thought Wayne was fantastic (on Tuesday),”

“He’s got his energy back, his determination, his purpose to attack.

“Being a director, I’m delighted to see that. He’s back to what we always remember.”

Sir Alex Ferguson brought Rooney to Old Trafford back in 2004, and its excellent to see him backing Wayne despite their differences.
