Football is a funny old game. Manchester United said goodbye to a real legend of the sport close to four years ago now, when Sir Alex Ferguson decided to hang up his boots. However, us Red Devils fans are in for a treat, as he’ll return to manage ‘Manchester United of 2008’ in Michael Carrick’s testimonial game.
The club confirmed the news on social media earlier today, and what a brilliant piece of information to wake up to. The greatest manager in the history of the game will be in the Old Trafford dugout once again.
Sir Alex will manage the #MUFC team at @Carras16's testimonial! Harry Redknapp leads the All-Stars.

Fergie will always go down as a legend, and in my opinion, it feels very similar as to when David Beckham came back to the club to take part in Gary Neville’s testimonial. It’s just wonderful to see guys come back to the club to get involved in some way, shape or form.
Michael Carrick himself more than deserves this testimonial. He has been a wonderful servant to our prestigious club, and he has won absolutely everything possible.
Under Jose Mourinho, the veteran has been in and out of the team, but I still believe we play better when he starts; that was evident at the weekend as he got a full 90 minutes under his belt in the win against Middlesbrough.
