Manchester United’s search for a new centre-half rumbles on. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs at least one top-class defensive addition before the window shuts next month.
The name that’s constantly linked with a Red Devils move is Harry Maguire – and what a signing it would be if United could pull it off.
Well today, they’ve been given the clearest indication yet that Maguire himself would want the move. the story comes from the usually reliable Sky Sports News, who say that the 26-year-old would be ‘honoured’ to play for United – while being keen to follow in the footsteps of two of his heroes, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Sky also add Maguire is becoming ‘increasingly frustrated’ at Leicester City’s stance, with The Foxes holding out for more than the £75million that Liverpool paid to sign Virgil van Dijk eighteen months ago.
After having a £70million bid turned down, United are close to the figure that Leicester want, and for what it’s worth, I do feel the Reds will eventually cough up and end up meeting the Foxes demands.
I just wish they’d hurry up and get the deal done sooner rather than later. The more time Maguire has to get integrated into his new surroundings, the better it’d be for all involved.
Hopefully, things speed up over the next week and we can get Maguire all ready to go come the opening day against Chelsea.
