Sky: Mario Mandzukic an option for Man United in Lukaku swap deal

Things are moving quickly as the transfer deadline rapidly approaches. Manchester United and Juventus have been in talks over a proposed swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.

However, according to Sky Sports News, 33-year-old forward Mario Manduzkic is now an alternative option as talks continue over the potential player trade.

United and Juve had agreed a swap deal in principle that would see Argentina international Dybala head to Old Trafford, however, the 25-year-old is yet to agree personal terms with United, now the club are considering Mandzukic as a different possibility.

Any deal that would send Lukaku to Turin would have to consider a player, though a swapping of player could mean a change in transfer fee. With time running out that’s easier said than done to sort out…

Apparently, Mandzukic is a player United have kept tabs on for ‘quite some time’, and although he’s an excellent presser of the football while always being a hard worker, I’m personally not convinced he’s what the 20-time Premier League champions need at this stage.

It’s a tricky situation. Lukaku seemingly wants out and I’ve never been keen on the idea of keeping unhappy players at your club. The deal has to be right for United, though, they can’t just sell Lukaku just because it suits the player…
