Manchester United are in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk regarding the possibility of signing Fred.
That’s what Sky Sports News’ sources are saying, with the Red Devils trying to get the deal done before the World Cup starts on June 14th.
Fred, 25, has told the media that he’s planning on leaving Ukraine this summer, but it seems as though things are moving faster than even he thought.
It comes as no surprise to see that Jose Mourinho is planning on signing at least one new central midfielder. Michael Carrick obviously needs replacing, and his shoes are pretty large ones to fill.
The Brazil international is the perfect box-to-box midfielder who’ll bring some much-needed energy to the midfield. In a trio alongside the defensive-minded Nemanja Matic and the brilliantly talented Paul Pogba, it could be a huge step towards mounting a serious Premier League title challenge next season.
Now it’s down to Edward Woodward to get the deal sealed before the World Cup kicks off next month. At least getting it completed before then would stop other clubs making their move for Fred if he plays well in Russia.
Have been looking into the #Fred reports. We understand #MUFC & Shakhtar are in advanced talks over a possible transfer. Deal close & United want him before the World Cup. More on @SkySportsNews
