Manchester United Football Club have an abundance of talent on their books in the goalkeeper position, but now, it looks as though we’re set to get even deeper in that area.
According to Sky Sports News’ sources, the Red Devils are in talks with Stoke City shot-stopper, Lee Grant.
Apparently, The Potters would allow Grant, 35, to move to Old Trafford on a free transfer, following their relegation to the Championship.
Grant would come in as the third-choice goalkeeper, sitting in behind the excellent David de Gea and Sergio Romero. Furthermore, this would allow the extremely talented Joel Pereira the chance to go out on loan for a season – to get some regular, first-team football under his belt.
Although this move would be somewhat surprising, you can certainly understand the logic. Grant is a good keeper in his own right, and I certainly remember him making some incredible saves against us from time-to-time.
Obviously, the chances are, at most, he’d only be playing a handful of games every season, but having that experience in and around the dressing room can only be a good thing. What an excellent career-move it would be for the Englishman on a personal level. He must be in dreamland.
