After a stagnant month or so in the transfer market, it seems as though Manchester United have kicked into gear again.
According to Sky Sports News, the Red Devils have made an official approach to Leicester City, regarding the potential purchase of centre-back Harry Maguire.
Apparently, United value the 25-year-old at around £65million, with Maguire, who is set to return from his holidays in just a few days, believed to be keen on the deal happening.
Maguire had a stunning World Cup for England. He was quick, strong, tough in the tackle, great in the air and showed a willingness to pass out from the back. He’d be a brilliant acquisition whatever the cost, and no doubt he’d be an instant starter if he were to make the move to Old Trafford.
Signing the Englishman would send out a real message to the Premier League, but it’s a deal that we’re now pretty desperate to see happening. We’ve been pretty poor defensively at times over the last twelve months, Maguire would single-handedly change that. He’s a vocal leader on the field and will chip in with a goal or two, too. Hopefully, Edward Woodward has enough time to push the deal over the line.
Harry Maguire would be a fantastic signing for #mufc. After his excellent World Cup, his price was always going to rise. English, young, ever-improving, great in the air and can play out from the back. He'd walk into our starting line-up. pic.twitter.com/lIk0gsjjZU
