Manchester United Football Club are close to agreeing on a new long-term contract with left-back Luke Shaw.
That’s according to Sky Sports News, who gave us Red Devils fans the brilliant news via their Twitter feed.
Shaw, 23, is out-of-contract next summer, although United do have the option to extend his deal by a further year if they so choose. Now, it looks as though they won’t need to take up that clause as the left-back will be secured for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Shaw has been our best player to start this season. It took a while, but Jose Mourinho is now getting the right tune from arguably the most talented left-back in the Premier League.
Injuries certainly slowed his development, but not once has Shaw moaned or become disheartened. He has kept working hard, waiting patiently for his opportunity. With Ashley Young ageing and coming into the season off a World Cup, Shaw pounced and never looked back.
He has been playing brilliantly this season, while giving a completely new dimension to our attack. It has been so long since we’ve had someone who can bomb up and down the flank and overlap his winger. Now, if Diogo Dalot can swiftly take over on that right-hand side, we’ll be looking much better in the full-back position.
