Manchester United Football Club have bolstered the playing squad by adding Bruno Fernandes into the first-team fold. The midfielder is actually in line to make his debut against Wolves tomorrow, while it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t giving up hope on adding a second body.
Rumours linking ex-Red Joshua King back to Old Trafford have been in overdrive during the last twelve hours or so. Now, Sky Sports have provided us an update on the future of the Norweigan…
They state that United are considering a second bid for the 28yo forward, after the first offer was rejected. Furthermore, the reds are keen to sign a striker before today’s January deadline.
King came through the United academy and actually played under Solskjaer for the reserves. At the time, he wasn’t able to make a breakthrough into the first-team – hence the move away.
It’s also fair to say that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe didn’t seem too convinced that King would remain on the South Coast beyond the January deadline…
This morning he said:
“I know what Manchester United means to him so let’s wait and see.”
It’s definitely an interesting rumour. On the face of it, for us fans, you have to feel slightly underwhelmed at the prospect of a Josh King Man United transfer. However, this is the reality of the situation. January is often a tricky window to buy in – particularly so late in the day…
The positives are that King has Premier League experience and he has scored almost 50 goals in 160 appearances for Bournemouth – which isn’t a bad record whatsoever.
Aged 28, it’s definitely a short-term fix, though if the deal does go through, King is hardly someone who is going to guarantee 20+ goals-a-season. Right now, it feels like more of a rotational signing just to make up the numbers rather than a regular starter.
