Sky Sports: Man United duo in talks to leave club on free transfers this summer

We all knew that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a huge task on his hands, well, the job could be about to get worse.

The transfer market isn’t open yet, although the Red Devils could be about to lose two key players. That’s according to Sky Sports News, who says that Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are both in talks with a pair of European giants about free transfers away from Old Trafford.

First up, Sky say that Herrera has already agreed terms to move to Paris Saint-Germain when the transfer window opens. This one seems to be done and dusted already with the 29-year-old set to call time on a six-year stint at the Theatre of Dreams.

As for Mata, he’s apparently in discussions with FC Barcelona about a move back to his homeland. Honestly, can you blame him?

Both clubs represent major opportunities for the two players to win major trophies. That simply cannot be argued.

For United, it’s about a changing of the times. This squad needs a serious overhaul and I’m not sure Mata in particular is a part of Solskjaer’s long-term plans.

I’d love to see Herrera stay but if his wage demands are too high then it makes sense to let him depart.
