Yesterday Paul Pogba confirmed his intentions to leave Manchester United Football Club.
With three-years left on his contract, it was never going to be plain sailing for the mercurial Frenchman. The ball is in the Red Devils’ court and they aren’t going to give up on their star player that easily…
Today, Sky Sports News have offered us an update in the brewing saga. They claim that United ‘expect’ Pogba to stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer transfer window.
This goes in line with a story we covered last night from the Evening Standard. United aren’t under immense pressure to sell – not for another twelve months at least…
According to Sky, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees the 26-year-old as a ‘key part’ of his plans for the 2019/20 season – which is pretty obvious given he’s United’s most talented player.
Juventus and Real Madrid are the interested parties. The former apparently want to bring Pogba back to Turin, while Zinedine Zidane would love to work with his countryman in the Spanish capital.
For now, the ball is in United’s court. It’ll be interesting to see how this one develops as the window goes on, though. Unless an outrageous offer comes in then I fully expect Pogba to be donning the famous red jersey on pre-season tour next month and I’m intrigued to see how he handles it.
Honestly, I think they’ll be a behind-the-scenes agreement in place in which Pogba will leave United next summer for a cheaper fee. Probably similar to how Cristiano Ronaldo made the move to Real Madrid – although the latter left far more gracefully than his French counterpart.
