It was only a matter of time before Manchester United were linked with a move for one of Leicester City’s top performers this season. In fact, I’m surprised this one took this long.
According to Sky Sports News, Youri Tielemans is ‘attracting interest’ from the Red Devils following a stellar loan spell with the Foxes.
Apparently, Leicester are pushing for a ‘quick deal’ to sign Tielemans permanently from AS Monaco, as they’re becoming way of United and Spurs also being keen on the brilliant Belgian.
For Monaco, they’d want a bidding war for Tielemans in an effort to drive up his price, and if three Premier League teams lock horns to try and sign the 22-year-old then it looks as though the Ligue 1 side are about to get their wish.
In terms of fit, we’re looking at the perfect replacement for Ander Herrera. Tielemans can cover the ground that his Basque counterpart can, while I’d also suggest that the Monaco man is considerably better in the final third that Herrera, who seems to be Paris Saint-Germain-bound.
Again, I’m pleased to see United linked with moves for younger players as it signals a change in direction for the Old Trafford club. Tielemans is young, hungry and ready to improve. If his first six months in England is anything to go by, then this lad has a huge future if he continues to develop and grow.
