Sky Sports: Manchester United will not be signing 24-year-old defender this summer

Manchester United have denied they are trying to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender, Serge Aurier, as per Sky Sports. The 24-year-old had been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams, with some reports claiming that a deal to sign him had already been agreed.

Jose Mourinho has made three signings this summer, all of which have looked great so far. However, in my opinion, we could really do with another full-back who can play on either side. Aurier would have certainly offered that in abundance, and I find it slightly disappointing that we aren’t in for him.

Aurier has played at the highest level of football for PSG in Ligue 1, as well as making an impression on the international stage for the Ivory Coast, too.

It looks as though the boss is content with the options we currently have in the wide defensive areas. Antonio Valencia is a shoe-in to start, and I like Luke Shaw but he’s always injured. Outside of that, we lack real strength in depth, as the likes of Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind just aren’t good enough to play regularly for Manchester United.

Once again, it highlights that the squad as a whole still needs major work doing to it, and it’s more that can be done in one transfer window.
