Sky Sports say Man Utd chose not to pursue striker for Marcus Rashford’s benefit

Manchester United Football Club are clearly trying to make a statement of intent this summer. Jose Mourinho is closing in on making Zlatan Ibrahimovic his first summer signing – but the big Swede will be the only striker the club bring in during this window.

Sky Sports News are now saying that Manchester United decided not to pursue a move for Jamie Vardy, to allow Marcus Rashford the game-time to develop and grow as a player.

This is brilliant news. Despite being top goalscorer, Jamie Vardy is 28 now, and you’d imagine it will be hard for him to repeat that feat next season.

We have a ready-made star in Marcus Rashford waiting in the wings, and arguably could have an even bigger impact next season.

It also puts the myth that Jose Mourinho doesn’t promote youth to bed, which is massive for the rest of the youngsters who’ll be looking to make their mark on the first-team.
