Sofyan Amrabat is intent on a permanent return to Man United this summer, as the Reds gear up to make a new offer for the Moroccan.
Manchester United have some big transfer decisions to make this summer, in terms of both outgoing and incoming players. The Red Devils have made two signings, while a decision is yet to be made on a third, who is a familiar face.
Sofyan Amrabat is currently back at Fiorentina after his loan move in Manchester. The man from Morocco is currently in limbo, as he has been replaced by the Italian club while United are yet to make a formal offer to bring him back.
Now, Quotidiano Sportivo have provided an update on Amrabat’s future, claiming that the 27-year-old player ‘only wants’ a Man United transfer this summer.
Old Trafford remains the ‘most likely’ destination for Amrabat at this time, though it’s not a foregone conclusion. The report actually mentions another loan deal as a possibility, with the player ‘waiting for news’ about his future.
AC Milan are also in the picture to sign Amrabat, who impressed towards the end of the 2023/24 season at Old Trafford.
The Reds are said to be ‘preparing’ a new offer to sign the midfielder, though no figures or wages are mentioned. You’d assume United will be looking to negotiate a lower fee than the £17m buy clause that was in Amrabat’s loan deal.
I’d personally like to see Amrabat return to the club. It’d be a cheap signing, for a player who Erik ten Hag can trust. With Casemiro now looking every bit a 32-year-old, United have no choice but to strengthen in that defensive midfield position. Why not do it with someone who is already familiar with the club?
