Solskjaer believes he’s the most privileged manager in the world in the goalkeeper department

Manchester United are a side on the up. For me, it all starts with building from the back. Now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained his privilege when it comes to the goalkeeper position…

The Baby Faced Assassin met the media ahead of the Red Devils’ Europa League quarter-final game against Copenhagen, and it’s difficult to disagree with him in regards to United’s shot-stoppers.

For all their faults over the years, picking their man in between the sticks is something United have excelled at. You look at David de Gea as one of the best in the business, while I struggle to find a better back-up than Sergio Romero.

As for Dean Henderson, he looks a real player. Right now, though, it looks like United are risking losing their talented up-and-comer

Anyway, when asked about Henderson’s future, Solskjaer explained why he’s the most ‘privileged manager’ in that key position. His answer makes utmost sense.

“I think I must be the most privileged manager in the world with the goalkeeping department, with Sergio, David and we’ve got Dean Henderson coming back. Three top, top ‘keepers.” Solskjaer told reporters, including the Evening Standard.

“This season has shown how important Sergio has been for us and for me David always, always performing. We will see what we do for the rest of the season and going forward.

“It’s difficult, but it’s a nice problem to have.”

Solskjaer added: “Competition for places is important. We are looking to have competition for places.

So which way will Ole swing?

My opinion is that, as of right now, it’s still De Gea’s job to lose. Solskjaer has an awful lot of trust in the Spaniard and I don’t think he’d risk going with Henderson at this point.

For me, I’d go with Henderson. He’s young, fresh and ready to make that step up. There is a question mark about whether he’d be able to cope with the pressure of playing for Manchester United, but I firmly believe his time is now.

I think one thing that is clear is that Romero, despite all of his best efforts, probably won’t be offered the chance to be number one. He’ll likely be sold this summer.

De Gea will probably keep his job, Henderson will *hopefully* be loaned out rather than sold while Lee Grant will stay at United as De Gea’s back-up.
