Solskjaer coaching Jadon Sancho in new position: report

Jadon Sancho is apparently practicing his trade as a right wingback in Man United training…

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign as Manchester United manager has been positive overall. The Baby Faced Assassin has, without question, improved this side in terms of personnel and dressing room happiness.

However, recent results haven’t been good enough. Solskjaer knows that more than anyone. He’d try a change in formation to the 5-3-2, though in doing so, that renders our vast array of wide attacking talent as pretty much useless.

The person who’d suffer most is Jadon Sancho, who cost the club £73million last summer and is yet to register a goal or an assist. Well, according to The Athletic, the 21-year-old United star is being coached to play in a surprising new position by Solskjaer…

Per the report, Solskjaer has been working on Sancho as a right wing-back in training, due to ongoing doubts about Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s attacking output.

The Athletic go on to state that the manager could opt to use Sancho in this position against teams who sit back and look to defend for 90 minutes.

It goes without saying, winning the games we should be winning has been United’s downfall thus far under Solskjaer. Old Trafford has actually been our weakness, as opposed to our success when playing away from home.

This isn’t Sancho’s position. However, there could be some logic behind it. Why on earth would we need to play with five defenders against sides who sit back and play one striker? The numbers just don’t add up.

I would be concerned about Sancho’s defensive ability, though. Simply put, that’s not what he’s in the side to do. When teams are counter-attacking down that flank with Sancho as the right full-back, I’d be seriously worried.

Would this be a good move for Jadon Sancho? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
