Manchester United have always loved an FA Cup run, with Jose Mourinho even taking his side to the final last term. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side sit in the fourth round at the moment. They’ll take on Arsenal tomorrow night.
As always, games against the old enemy are tough and hard-fought. From first minute till last, this time around will be no different.
It’s about making that game-changing decision, or making that world-class play. Thankfully, United have brilliance in abundance, and one of those guys has been forgotten about lately.
We’re talking about Alexis Sanchez, who struggled to find his best form under Mourinho. Now, the 30-year-old Chilean is back from injury, with Solskjaer confirming that he’ll be involved against his former employers.
“He’ll [Sanchez] be involved,” said Ole in his exclusive interview with ManUtd. “I think he’ll love it if the crowd turn against him. As a player, pride kicks in and you think ‘I’ll show all of you’. He’s been fantastic in training, his attitude has been spot on so hopefully he’ll enjoy the game.”
We’ve seen glimspes of Sanchez under Solskjaer and the early signs look promising. Whether he’s going to start this fixture, or come off the substitutes bench remains to be seen.
Hopefully, he gets the nod to play from the off. The minutes will do him the world of good, and against Arsenal, he’ll certainly give that extra 10% in an effort to prove them wrong.
Many forget that Sanchez is still world-class. If he can rediscover the scintillating form that he displayed at Arsenal, then having him back in the mix will be like having a new signing. It’s now time for the #7 to do his talking on the pitch and prove to the world that he’s still good enough to play at the highest level.
