Man United are to be without 4 first-teamers for the trip to Wolves this Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are gearing up for a massive fixture ahead of the first international break of the season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers away is never easy. Molineux, particularly with fans, can be a fortress. United will have to be at their best to pick up any sort of positive result here.
Ahead of the game, the gaffer has been speaking to the media about the all-important team news. United are to be without four first-teamers through injury for this one – all of them were expected absences, mind.
Check out what the manager had to say here:
“We’re still missing Scott, who had surgery this week,” Solskjaer told ManUtd.com. “Marcus, Alex, Dean Henderson, they’re not ready. But, apart from that, we have a fit squad ready to fight for points.
“Scott has had surgery and he couldn’t carry on. We tried to manage it and get him through without surgery but we couldn’t and, in the end, it was too sore for him. By the end of the Southampton game, when he came in, that was the decision.”
Rashford, Telles nor Henderson have played this term for a variety of reasons. They’ve all been out injured or in Hendo’s case, he’s still feeling the aftereffects of Covid-19.
McTominay feels like the major blow. Our midfield looked absolutely atrocious without him against Southampton, and we’ll have to persist with Nemanja Matic again here – which feels far from ideal.
This is why you have a deep squad in the modern-day game. This is why Solskjaer would ideally like to sign another central midfielder this summer.
Now, it’s down to the lads that are fit to go out there and get the job done. I’d like to think this squad can secure all three points though I’d be lying if I said this one isn’t going to be harder because of our absentees.
