Manchester United’s faint top-four hopes are over. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men stumbled to a 1-1 draw away at Huddersfield Town today, in a game that pretty much summed up the season.
Alexis Sanchez was brought into the line-up for his first start in a couple of months following injury, and it’s fair to say that his season hasn’t gone as planned.
The Chilean was bang average throughout, before he seemingly picked up an injury that forced the Baby Faced Assassin into substituting Sanchez. After the game, Solskjaer confirmed that it was his ankle that is the problem…
At this point I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if Sanchez didn’t play for United again. The ex-Arsenal man has been awful since joining United, and it’s a shame because before he made the move to Manchester he put in some stunning performance for The Gunners.
As Gary Neville said on commentary, he’s just lost everything. The pace is gone, it seems as though his passion for the game has been lost somewhere along the line, too. It’s just a sorry sight watching him try to play at the moment.
Perhaps what he needs is a move away from Old Trafford. The toxicity in that dressing room has seemingly rubbed off on Sanchez and it’s certainly best for all involved to shift him on while he still has a chance at reviving his career.
