Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sweating on the fitness of Daniel James after the winger picked up an injury problem.
Manchester United Football Club extracted their revenge in the perfect way. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s boys would go a goal down away to Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils would run out 3-1 winners – and they’d deserve it, too.
The game itself was a pretty dull affair in the first 45, with all the action coming in the second half. However, there was one notable absentee; Daniel James.
Solskjaer would confirm that the United star picked up an injury problem during the game on Thursday night. Now, the Baby Faced Assassin is presumably worried about his fitness ahead of the all-important second leg against Granada.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
“We’ll freshen it up but also keep doing the same things that we have done,“ Ole told reporters, including the club website. ”Also, Dan had an injury from Thursday night, so he couldn’t be with us. Mason has also had some niggles, so we gave him a rest from the start.”
Although the gaffer didn’t go into details, he didn’t look particularly worried and I’d doubt it’s a major issue. It’s also a minor concern that Mason Greenwood is struggling with something, though he didn’t show it as his contribution off the bench was absolutely electric.
As for James, I actually think he’s been pretty good recently. Sure, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll never be a regular starter, but as a rotational option, or a difference-maker off the substitutes bench, James is an excellent player to have.
The good thing is that he’s still getting better, while he has delivered some pretty good performances for club and country this season.
With Marcus Rashford still hobbling around and Anthony Martial still out injured, I’d hope that the Wales international is fit enough for a place on the bench this Thursday. We may well need him…
