Solskjaer confirms Eric Bailly injury kept him out of Sheffield United game

Water is wet, Eric Bailly is injured. The two are a match made in heaven, unfortunately…

Manchester United have remained relatively injury-free this campaign, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer man-managing his squad excellently. Credit where it’s due, we’ve picked up way fewer problems than last term and that’s down to the Baby Faced Assassin.

As our quest to make it 21 in May continues, each and every Premier League game won is a massive step in the right direction. For that, it’s vital that our key players stay fit.

Well, United have been dealt a fresh injury blow, with an in-form star sidelined with a new problem. Yup, Eric Bailly is out again…

Our gaffer would speak exclusively to MUTV before kick-off last night to confirm the news. Apparently, the Ivorian ‘had a bang’ in training on Tuesday – leaving him sore and bruised…

Check out what Solskjaer had to say here:

“Marcus [Rashford] is fine. Eric [Bailly] was down to play this game but he had a bang yesterday so he’s sore and bruised. That’s unfortunate for him.” Solskjaer said live on MUTV before the Reds took on Sheffield United.

Well, this was to be expected. Bailly has been brilliantly recently, though we’ve learned, time and time again, that he cannot be counted upon for long periods of time.

Unfortunately, he’s just injury-prone and there’s not a lot that can be done to change that. In this sense, it doesn’t help that he’s so aggressive all the time because more often than not, he’s doing his body no good flying into tackles. But that’s just the nature of his game and if you try and change that, he simply wouldn’t be the brilliant player he is when fit.

If we’re looking at the positives, the good news is that it doesn’t seem too serious…? Whether he’ll be available for the weekend remains to be seen. If not, I wouldn’t think a bit of bruising will keep him out of action for too long.

Get well soon, Eric!
