Solskjaer confirms Hannibal Mejbri is out injured for a month

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that Hannibal Mejbri has picked up a problem, meaning he’ll be injured for a month.

Manchester United have been more than willing to give the next generation their chance. Just look at Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and more recently, Amad Diallo.

Among those who are undoubtedly next in line is Hannibal Mejbri. The expressive midfielder has been playing at a super-high level for the United U23s recently – so a debut always felt likely at some point in the not too distant future.

Sadly, that chance won’t come tomorrow against Real Sociedad. That’s despite the fact Mejbri was just coming into the senior setup…

Solskjaer would confirm the injury blow in his pre-match press conference yesterday, with the emerging star set to miss game-time as he’s sidelined for the next month.

Check out what Solskjaer had to say on the news:

“Hannibal is injured,” Solskjaer told the media, including“Unfortunately, he got injured in the Reserves so he’ll be out for a month.

”So he was just coming into our squad and, unfortunately for him, he is out.“

The 18-year-old has picked up a problem while playing for the reserves and although Solskjaer wouldn’t go into detail in regards to what area has been affected, it means Hannibal won’t be out on the grass for at least the next four weeks.

These sort of setbacks are never nice as a young kid. Now, it’s down to Hannibal to keep his head up and work as hard as he can to get back out there as soon as possible.

I guess the main issue now is whether there are any suitable games left in which Hannibal could feature. It’s going to be April before he’s back feeling fit enough to play, by which point, United probably won’t have any ‘gimmies’ left. Whereas tomorrow night, at home to Sociedad, when you’re 4-0 up, would have been ideal.

Now, I’d look at a potential Mejbri debut in the Carabao Cup next term. I’d also hope we’d see him on pre-season tour, assuming we get one before the 2021/22 term.

Get well soon, Hannibal!
