Solskjaer confirms injury to Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial picked up an injury during Man United’s 1-1 draw with Everton, the gaffer has confirmed.

Manchester United dropped more points at home this weekend, with the Red Devils putting in a poor display during a 1-1 draw vs Everton. The game itself was pretty end-to-end with both sides creating chances.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came in for criticism afterwards, but that was always the risk when he made so many changes to the starting line-up.

One player who came in was Anthony Martial. The Frenchman has struggled for the better part of a year, but Solskjaer trusts the former AS Monaco man endlessly and offered him a chance.

Martial would deliver, putting in a pretty good performance and scoring the opening goal. However, he’d pick up an injury blow, confirmed by the gaffer at full-time – hence why he had to be subbed off.

Check out what Solskjaer had to say here:

“Great movement, great interlink play,” said Solskjaer to ManUtd.com.

“Scott [McTominay], Mason [Greenwood], Bruno, Anthony: good finish. Very pleased for him and with him.

“Unfortunately he got a knock and had to come off.”

Martial just can’t catch a break. The first time he plays well in so long and injury ruins what was a positive day from a personal point of view. In regards to the severity, nobody knows, but hopefully, it won’t keep him out of the France squad over the next fortnight.

He could really do with the games for his country as he looks to keep the confidence flowing after this one. The last thing he wants is to be sat back on the bench without being given an opportunity to play.

It’s always going to be tough for Martial. Particularly now that Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho are here. Minutes have been hard to come by at the best of times, hence why I firmly believe if the 25-year-old doesn’t make an impression this season, he could be looking for a new club as early as January.

Get well soon, Toto!
