Solskjaer has confirmed that Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford are nearing in on returning.
Manchester United’s squad is considerably healthy given the physically demanding start to the 2021/22 season. However, our Baby Faced Assassin has been dealing with one or two injury issues here and there.
One of them, Marcus Rashford, has been missing since July. The Englishman had been dealing with a number of issues for pretty much the whole of last season, though he pressed through in order to play at EURO 2020. He’d then undergo surgery.
Another, Amad Diallo, was dealt a cruel blow. He’d pick up a problem just a matter of hours before sealing a loan move back to Atalanta. That issue would mean the transfer would collapse, leaving the Ivorian on the treatment table.
However, there was some positive news on that front. Solskjaer would confirm yesterday that the United duo are nearing a first-team return following injury. Both are working hard. Both are keeping positive.
Check out what the gaffer had to say here:
‘They’re still a few weeks away so, hopefully after the international break, they could be available,’ Solskjaer told media, including The Metro.
‘They’re working hard, both of them positive, and it’s been a long, long time for Marcus of course. Probably the longest he’s been out but he’s needed it.
‘He looks raring to go, happy and he knows he’s missed out on pre-season, but he’s done loads of good conditioning work and should be ready soon.’
In regards to Rashford, it always felt like the October international break was going to be his target. He’s now got two weeks to work on his fitness and up his workload in training. He may well have an outside shot at being amongst the substitutes for our first game back.
I think it has quickly been forgotten just how vital Rashford is to this team. His directness, work ethic and overall skill will help this team massively. He contributed to over 30 goals last season while playing on one leg.
As for Amad, it’ll be good for him to get back in training and build up his confidence and fitness once again. I’d be surprised if the winger doesn’t jet off on loan in January, but in the meantime, working and learning from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo can only be a good thing.
It goes without saying, the fitter the squad is, the better our chances are. Hopefully, these guys are ready and raring to go soon.
