Manchester United have one game left in their season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finding out just how difficult it is to manage this dressing room stacked with mercenaries.
The 1-1 draw away at Huddersfield Town was damning. United took the lead early then went into cruise control from that point forward. To a man it just isn’t good enough, they were acting as if there was nothing left to play for – although a shot at finishing in the top four was still up for grabs.
Understandably, after the game Solskjaer looked fuming. Alexis Sanchez summed it up perfectly by once again succumbing to injury. The Baby Faced Assassin was directly asked whether the Chilean will play for United again, and although he didn’t want to single out Sanchez, the manager didn’t hold back in regards to players potentially not pulling on the jersey again.
“I can’t talk about individuals now but there’s a chance you’ve seen the last of players anyway,” Solskjaer said per the Manchester Evening News. “There’s always a chance it’s a last time but I wouldn’t say that about any individual now, I don’t think that’s fair.
The players’ attitude just stinks. This squad is in deeper trouble than we ever imagined and the worst part is that it’s going to take years to fix.
I look at the team and I can count the players who deserve to be here on the one hand. Quite frankly, when you’ve spent the money United have, that’s just nowhere near good enough.
Even if we go into next season playing a load of academy kids week-in-week-out I’m not bothered. Just as long as we show a fight, a desire and a determination to win. If it means letting all of the toxic personalties leave on the cheap then so be it. We just want players who deserve to be here. It really is as simple as that.
