Perhaps the best thing about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being named permanent Manchester United manager early is the fact that he can now plan his summer transfer targets.
No no between now and the opening of the window, the Red Devils will be linked with a whole host of names. However, The Daily Mirror has today drawn up a shortlist of Solskjaer’s top four targets; including some mightily impressive names…
Apparently, the Baby Faced Assassin’s priority this summer is a move for Borussia Dortmund ace, Jadon Sancho. The superstar teenager has enjoyed a rapid rise to fame this term and could well be keen on a Premier League return – following a failure to break into the side at Manchester City.
Next up is Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. For whatever reason, the right-winger has been used sparingly by Maurizio Sarri, although in spite of that, he’s earned himself starts for England; which tells you everything you need to know about his talents. I do have my doubts about whether the Stamford Bridge club would sell to us, though.
Thirdly is another Premier League-based player, Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back is up there with the most improved players during the course of the 2018/19 campaign and it’s no surprise that Europe’s elite are beginning to take notice.
Last but by no means least is Kalidou Koulibaly. Perhaps United’s biggest need is a world-class centre-back. The Napoli man would be a mouthwatering addition should the Red Devils board be able to pull off the coup. He’d almost single-handedly transform our whole back line; although he wouldn’t come cheap.
It’s clear that Solskjaer is trying to reduce the average age within this squad, putting his faith in youth and building a side that fits his system. If the club can even land two of these guys while clearing out some of the deadwood, that’d be a massive success.
