Manchester United dropped more points at home last night, with the Red Devils labouring to a 1-1 draw against an equally poor Arsenal side.
The game itself lacked in quality but for entertainment value, it was a rather exciting watch as two times went at it in a full-blooded manner.
Old Trafford was quietened somewhat before kick-off, though, when news emerged that Aaron Wan-Bissaka wasn’t in the matchday squad. Well, now we know why, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shed some light on the 21-year-old’s absence…
‘He has been ill over the weekend so that was a decision we finally made yesterday.’ Solskjaer is quoted as saying by The Metro.
‘Hopefully we will have him back soon.’
Thankfully the problem is an illness rather than a physical injury. It does mean that he should recover from this fairly quickly, but honestly, I wouldn’ take him to Holland to take on AZ Alkmaar on Thursday. I’d let Wan-Bissaka stay at home, rest up, and ensure he’s fit to play Newcastle at the weekend.
For me, Wan-Bissaka has been our best player and his absence was dearly missed. Don’t get me wrong, I like the leadership and experience that Ashley Young brings to the table, but in terms of ability and talent, there’s really only one winner.
We’re going to need him when heading North to take on The Magpies in our final game before the international break, that’s for sure.
Get well soon, Aaron!
