Solskjaer fears heavy defeat to Liverpool could put his job in jeopardy: report

It’s fair to say this morning’s headlines certainly make for grim reading if you’re a Manchester United or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fan.

The press is digging their nails into the Baby Faced Assassin rather hard this morning, and it’s hard to defend him given recent results.

I guess it was only a matter of time before talk of the sack reared it’s ugly head – and well, we’re at that stage.

According to the Daily Mail, Solskjaer fears his United job could be on the line next time out against Liverpool. Apparently, he believes a heavy defeat could result in the sack – despite the Norweigan describing the encounter as the ‘perfect game’ for his side to bounce back.

This is a results business. If you’re not delivering the goods, particularly at the highest level, wielding the axe and sacking the manager is the easiest thing to do – make no mistake about it.

The fact that United haven’t won away from home since March, on that night in Paris, is my biggest concern. As bad as it sounds, we would expect to lose to Liverpool this weekend, it’s defeats away at Newcastle and draws at home to Rochdale that really hurt.

Solskjaer is under heavy pressure to deliver. The next couple of months will either be the making or the end of him. I certainly hope it’s the former though we haven’t really been given reason enough to be confident.
