Manchester United Football Club made their return to competitive action on Friday night, playing out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
This evening, the Reds play their first game at Old Trafford in over three months, since *that* Manchester derby back in March. Three points are an absolute must this evening as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men look to close the gap on both Leicester City and Chelsea.
With an almost fully-fit squad to choose from, the Baby Faced Assassin has several selection dilemmas. Amongst them is a big Paul Pogba decision…
Our mercurial Frenchman looked pretty sharp during a little cameo against Spurs, though he has barely played this term – which has to be considered by his Norwegian manager.
Well, according to the Daily Mail, Pogba may well be in line for his first start since September. Apparently, Solskjaer is ‘seriously considering’ handing the classy United star an appearance from the get-go.
It’s all about risk-reward. If United believe Pogba is ready to play for the full 90 minutes, then go for it. However, if his body isn’t fully up to speed then it simply isn’t worth it. We’ve rushed him back once this season, and doing so tonight could end his campaign prematurely.
Solskjaer has to do what’s best for the team and ignore the calls from the fans to give Pogba the start if he feels it’s best. If the Frenchman is fit, though, then Solskjaer should unleash the beast as there aren’t many better players in world football than a fully fit Paul Pogba…
The partnership between he and Bruno Fernandes is seemingly blossoming on the training field. Now, it’s about taking that to competitive, Premier League action. Hopefully, we see more of that combination this evening.
