Solskjaer keen to push through Bruno Fernandes’ move to Man United: report

Manchester United have signed just one player during this transfer window, with the Red Devils needing to add more reinforcements as soon as possible.

Yesterday, the Telegraph provided yet another update on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but you’ll be pleased to know we’re not focusing on that. Halfway through the article, Bruno Fernandes’ name popped up once again.

The Telegraph writes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ‘keen to push through a deal’ for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, with the Baby Faced Assassin hoping to reach an agreement with the Portuguese at the ‘earliest opportunity’.

Apparently, Sporting are demanding £70m to let their playmaker leave, that figure is considered ‘outlandish’ and a negotiating tool.

Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, held talks with Tottenham Hotspur last week, with Sporting now waiting for United to make their next move. Presumably, the Portuguese side are looking to get several teams embroiled in a bidding war in an effort to drive up the player’s price.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Fernandes is a classy individual who directly contributed to 50(!) goals last season. With that said, I feel he’ll need at least a season to adapt to Premier League football (ala Victor Lindelof) so we’d have to be patient with him.

After the Wan-Bissaka deal eventually goes through, I do get the impression that United will go all out to sign Fernandes – and hopefully, a move can be arranged before the Reds jet off on pre-season tour on July 8th…
