Solskjaer offers encouraging injury update on Paul Pogba

Manchester United Football Club take on LASK Linz tonight, with the game still seemingly going ahead despite coronavirus fears all over Europe.

The lads are out in Austria, gearing up for the first leg of their last sixteen tie, with everyone hoping the Red Devils can bring a positive result back to Old Trafford to defend next week.

Make no mistake about it, the game itself will be tougher than people think, particularly without Anthony Martial, who is injured. There was some better news on Paul Pogba, though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offering an encouraging injury update on the United midfield superstar

“Paul is getting closer, but not ready yet he hasn’t trained with the team yet but by next week he will be ready.” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Goal.

To hear that Pogba will be good to go next week is huge. Yes, it’ll probably take him another fortnight or two to get back up to speed, but having his presence for the Premier League run-in could be all-important.

It gives United a huge opportunity in the Europa League and FA Cup, too. Imagine if he can form an on-field partnership with Bruno Fernandes? Phwoar, that’s exciting.

One thing I will say is that I’d make Pogba earn every minute of play out on that field. He shouldn’t just walk straight back into the XI. He needs to work his butt off and show that he wants to be here – we’re not his meal-ticket to the European Championships, we’re Man United…
