Solskjaer prepared to wait until next summer to sign attacker, Jadon Sancho the top target: report

Manchester United’s attack is looking thin on the ground – particularly after losing Romelu Lukaku with Alexis Sanchez seemingly about to follow suit…

It’s all well and good putting trust in unproven youngsters, but they’re raw and mistakes will be made. That inconsistency will come via inexperience at the top level and patience is needed.

Many thought that United would have a contingency plan in place should these stars leave, but according to the Evening Standard, there is no emergency plan in place, and free agent Fernando Llorente will not be moving to Old Trafford.

According to the ES, Solskjaer is prepared to wait until next summer to sign an attacker, with the star 18-year-old Jadon Sancho remaining as United’s leading target.

The Englishman has been absolutely sublime for Borussia Dortmund over the last twelve months or so, and he’s even earned England call-ups in that time.

It’s hard to believe that the teenager already looks so polished as a footballer, and he’ll only get better, while his price will only trend upwards.

For United, it’s about ensuring they secure a top-four finish first – as there’s no way Sancho moves to a club who aren’t in the Champions League.

This seems like a huge gamble to me, particularly when you’re now so heavily reliant on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to score the goals. That said, moving Sanchez out of the building was definitely the correct decision…
