Donny van de Beek will not be leaving Man United in January – that’s if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gets his wish…

Manchester United have themselves a Donny van de Beek problem. The Dutchman has barely played since his arrival from Ajax over a year ago now, with frustrations now starting to grow.

The player has since been exiled from Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands setup, with Van de Beek simply just wanting to be granted an opportunity.

However, Solskjaer remains ‘reluctant’ to let the out-of-favour 24-year-old leave in January, regardless of whether playing time comes Van de Beek’s way more regularly. That’s according to ESPN.

Apparently, sources of told ESPN that Solskjaer is preparing for the player to push for a January exit, but even if Van de Beek continues to be overlooked, the Baby Faced Assassin is keen to keep the core of his squad together until next summer. At that point, he’ll begin to make a decision on the future of his fringe players.

What’s intriguing is that Solskjaer has admitted, privately at least, that he overplayed key players at the end of last season. That’s a mistake he wants to correct this term, meaning at some point, more minutes should come Van de Beek’s way…

Van de Beek started just 15 games last term. He’s began two matches this season. As of right now, I’m just hot sure how much Solskjaer trusts the Dutchman which is incredibly worrying.

Even when players are out injured, Van de Beek is still finding it hard to force his way into the team. That leads me to believe the 24-year-old still isn’t impressing in training. I guess it says a lot that Fred is clear of Van de Beek in the midfield pecking order…

Honestly, at this point it’s borderline cruel. Why can’t we give Van de Beek a real run in the side and see what he can do? Either way, Solskjaer wins. The Baby Faced Assassin would be justified in his decision to bench Van de Beek if he struggles. However, if United’s number 34 plays well, the whole team will be in a much better place.
