Just yesterday, we covered a story from Goal Mexico which linked Manchester United with a possible move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.
The superstar striker has had some superb games against us over the last twelve months or so, and with the Reds desperate for a new striker, you felt it was only a matter of time before these stories started happening.
Well, just a few hours after the rumour first came to lost, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer directly responded to the 28-year-old being linked with a Man Utd transfer. As you’d expect, the Baby Faced Assassin gave absolutely nothing away.
“Another good player being linked with us,” Solskjaer said per The Independent.
“He came on and did really well. Loads of players are being linked with us. I can’t comment on speculation.”
For me, this would be an astute signing. First and foremost, Jimenez has Premier League experience and he could fit right into this team for day one. It’d also give united another dimension as the Mexican is pretty good in the air.
The failure to directly replace Romelu Lukaku was a poor piece of business that was only compounded when Erling Haaland chose to move to Borussia Dortmund rather than Old Trafford.
It has left United extremely light in a key area of the field, now, the club are going to find it tough to buy in January. Do you really think Wolves are going to be willing to part with arguably their most important player during the mid-season window? Unless United offer them a small-fortune, then this feels like a transfer more likely to happen over the summer.
That said, it would be an astute piece of business if Edward Woodward could somehow pull this one out of his back-pocket.
