Manchester United need a massive squad overhaul. I’d guess at least half this team is nowhere near the desired level. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs that financial support.
Thankfully, though, it seems as though the Glazer family are going to do just that. In an exclusive from ESPN, it is being claimed that Solskjaer will be backed with ‘significant funds’ when the window opens, while also being allowed to re-invest the money into the squad that is generated by player sales.
The report from ESPN also states that the Baby Faced Assassin is targeting five signings; one in each position on the field as he looks to improve the overall depth of this squad.
David de Gea’s future is up in the air while defensive duo Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are set to leave. It looks for all the world like Ander Herrera is headed to Paris, while a whole host of other first-teamers could be considering moves away.
A couple of the names on Solskjaer’s list are Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Kalidou Koulibaly. It’s great to see the Red Devils aiming high as this club genuinely needs practically a brand new starting XI – and it’s going to take time. Fixing a squad just doesn’t happen overnight.
