Solskjaer singles out praise for one Man United star in Wolves loss

After the highs of beating Paris Saint-Germain came the lows of two extremely poor back-to-back losses. Last night’s defeat ended our best chance at silverware in the FA Cup.

It was a poor performance throughout. Manchester United just didn’t turn up. The coaching staff, the manager, the players, the reds were second best throughout and they deserved to lose.

Following the game, Solskjaer looked downbeat and disheartened which was obviously to be expected. However, the Baby Faced Assassin did praise one individual for what was another pretty good performance.

“Sergio made some fantastic saves – he’s played really well again. But that’s disappointing because they had the better of the chances.” Solskjaer told “They deserved the win. Sergio kept us in the game with a fantastic performance from him again but we never put their keeper under pressure.”

Sergio Romero kept us in the game with some stunning saves, but eventually, Wolves managed to breakthrough with two deserved goals. If I’m being picky, he perhaps could have done better for their second – but you cannot expect him to keep them out forever.

I’d argue that the Argentine is the best backup goalkeeper in football and I don’t think it was a mistake to start him instead of De Gea. He had done a stellar job in every game, and last night was more of the same.

It wasn’t Romero’s fault we lost. I look at the ten outfield players before I even consider blaming him, but it does hurt to see United go out of the FA Cup with such a whimper.
