Manchester United’s squad is in an absolute mess right now. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hands are seriously tied behind his back due to long-term problems for all of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford.
With the squad already looking supremely thin on the ground before said problems, surely the Baby Faced Assassin will be forced into transfer action? After all, we’re still in the January window.
Anyway, after the 2-0 loss to Liverpool yesterday, Solskjaer was asked about potentially spending money due to mounting injuries. The Norweigan remained as coy as ever, though he did hint at a potential January signing on a short-term deal.
“Anthony has been out, Paul, Scott. It’s an unfortunate situation.” Solskjaer told reporters, including The Sun.
“We might look at some short term deals. Desperate for a striker? Not desperate, if the right one is there and it fits for us… I have players here who are chomping at the bit.”
Be it loans, or handing experienced players on small-in-length contracts, United surely have to do something?
Identifying the right players is tough, particularly with just eleven days left in the market. However, you’d like to think that even a board this naive will already have a list of targets that they like. Bruno Fernandes has often been linked, while Edinson Cavani is a quality striker who wants out of his current situation.
There are players available. It comes down to United’s willingness to win and succeed. A signing or two could make the difference in our hunt for a top-four finish. Ignoring the problem will ultimately see us slide down the table…
