Solskjaer called Amad Diallo, tells youngster he wants him at United right now: report

Amad Diallo is set to join Manchester United this month, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly a big believer in the young man.

Cast your mind back to transfer deadline day, when a deal for young Amad Diallo was agreed with Atalanta. However, the Ivory Coast youngster wouldn’t get a work permit in time – meaning he’d have to remain with the Serie A outfit until at least this month.

A couple of days ago, we covered a claim from TuttoMercatoWeb, who suggested Diallo was already on his way to Manchester. That may well be true.

Now, we know how desperately Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to see Diallo at Old Trafford. According to the Here We Go podcast, thanks to @UtdReport for the quote, Solskjaer phoned the 18-year-old starlet, telling him he wants the player at United right now.

To us here at Old Trafford Faithful, this feels like a major hint that Amad Diallo is wanted as a first-team squad member as soon as he walks through the door. Unlike Facundo Pellistri, who is being slowly integrated into the setup at the Theatre of Dreams.

I guess this gives us a bigger indication in regards to Diallo’s talent. Don’t forget, this is a teenager who already has first-team minutes in both the Serie A and Champions League under his belt.

Diallo also plays in a position of need for United. Solskjaer is hardly blessed with options in the right-wing slot, meaning Diallo’s path to the first team may well be easier than other youngsters who are impressing at youth level.

I am supremely excited to watch Diallo play, though we need to be patient. After all, he’s still a young kid who’ll be learning his trade in a completely new country. Hopefully, he can hit the ground running, though, and make an instant impression.
