Last summer, Manchester United acquired Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50million deal. The one they call ‘The Spider’ has been amongst the best full-backs in the country this term.
However, that hasn’t spelt good news for everyone, with Diogo Dalot often being stuck on the bench.
The Portuguese was acquired by Jose Mourinho a couple of summers ago, regarded as a supremely talented up-and-comer at the time. Injuries certainly haven’t helped his case…
Well now, there is talk of an exit on the cards. The story comes from ESPN, who writes that a ‘host of top European clubs’ are keen on Dalot, with PSG and Barcelona amongst the interested parties.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ‘keen’ to keep the versatile 21-year-old at United this summer, who can play left-back, right-back and right-wing.
The question is, will Dalot be happy with limited minutes? Four Premier League appearances this term probably isn’t going to cut it for a highly-motivated young man, while playing second-fiddle to Wan-Bissaka definitely won’t be easy to take.
What if a European elite comes in and can promise him week-in-week-out playing time? Honestly, I’d probably cash in while Dalot still holds value. He’s a gifted player, though that talent is rendered useless if we can’t utilise it properly…
