Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got jolted straight back down to earth last night.
Paris Saint-Germain taught us a lesson in that second half. They showed their experience, ability and class to score two vital away goals that have all-but ended our Champions League hopes.
The game changed when the Baby Faced Assassin was forced into making two quick fire substitutions due to injury. First up, Anthony Martial went down with a problem. Then, as half-time was approaching, Jesse Lingard also picked up an injury.
After the game, Solskjaer gave us a quick update on their situations.
“You don’t know, muscular injuries – hamstring, groin, so we’ll have to have a couple of days to assess
them.” Solskjaer told reporters, including Sky Sports.
Muscular injuries can be problematic. I’m concerned about Lingard in particular, as he went down with nobody else around him. Martial tried to soldier on and play through his, but the Frenchman just couldn’t.
With some huge games on the horizon, these are two massive concerns. Both are huge to the way we play due to their pace and movement. Without them, against Chelsea and Liverpool, the games could be much tougher.
Hopefully, we’ll be given a more positive update in a couple of days when Solskjaer knows more, but for now, I guess we’re left to sweat and wonder just how long these guys will be sidelined for…
