David de Gea’s scintillating performance at Old Trafford last weekend certainly increased his stature in the footballing world as a whole, and at just 23 its clear he has a hugely bright future ahead of him. So-much-so that Spanish football fans are calling for Iker Casillas to be dropped in favour of our goalkeeper for the national side.
Marca are one of the biggest media outlets in Spain, and after Casillas’ horror show against Slovakia, they conducted this poll about who the fans would prefer in between the sticks. As you can see from the results, they are overwhelming. A whopping 84% want to see Casillas dropped in favour of David de Gea for the next game, and maybe, David de Gea might get his wish.
